SANYAS-I
Sanyas-I is Kiran Borker from Hyderabad who started his journey from representing Monkey Sound System in 2012 and later joined 10,000 Lion Sound System in 2015 and was a crucial crew member of Goa Sunsplash.
Passionate about Dub, Reggae, Dancehall, and its various Caribbean subgenres, Sanyas-I has been mentored by some of the pioneers in the Indian and International reggae scene such as Dakta Dub, General Zooz, Asher Selector, and Ninjadread to push the frontiers of reggae music in India.
Having picked up the Foundation style from these veterans, Sanyas-I delivers a scintillating mixture of Indian style combined with Reggae culture - a truly unique combination stemming from the suburban Indian underground but reflecting a cosmic spiritual vibe.
Sanyas - I's unique selections travel from old school to new school reggae music, a diverse combination that encompasses various record labels from around the world. Also stinting as an MC, he has been working for various events/festivals around India such as the now-famous Goa Sunsplash and Lemonade, and has performed at most of the big festivals around India.
Sanyas-I's vocals offer a niche blend of Hindi, English, and Jamaican Patois. He was also featured in Boxout sessions and Skillcast by Skillbox and much more.
He has performed regularly in Mumbai & Goa in clubs like Raasta, Antisocial, Riva beach resort, Twice in Nature, Aura & occasionally all around India at some of the most happening reggae events.
In Sanyas-I's sets, one can expect a chilled-out original Rastafarian vibe with smooth vocals, classic reggae, and dubbed out beats to warm heavy bassline making you move till you sweat. He has started IP’s like the Himalayan Dub Conference in 2018 along with Ninjadread in Manali & also Organized an independent festival called Roots and Culture Mela under the banner Dub Akhara.
He Has opened for Big names like Earl Gateshead, Petah Sunday, Danman, Arrival Sound, Apache Indian, Dub Smugglers, Alpha Steppa, Dub Fx, Dreadsquad, Tomawok, and many more. And he draws inpiration from Jamaican artists like Lee Scratch Perry, Supercat, Nicodemus, Papa Sun, Big Youth, Ninjaman, Shabba Ranks, Tenor Saw, and many more.
He Has started recording his first dubplate for Rudy Roots Seleckta back in 2015 then His first international collaboration was with Jungle Weed, the track named “Land of India” on his latest album Flying Island.
He has recorded 2 tracks with Mighty Pepper from Israel yet to be released. He is about to record his first Hindi Reggae Album expecting it to be released at the end of 2021.
His aim is to establish a community of self-sustainable farms with the help of permaculture and spread the words of peace, love, and unity across the globe.
